A wonderful night at the Mall Galleries....

This is always an incredible event, a credit to the hard work and dedication of all at DSWF. For me it was really special, I was awarded the “endangered wildlife” category for my painting “Highlife” which was hung in a great position in the middle of the back wall.

The best was yet to come….. the judges also selected my snow leopard as runner up in the whole competition. I just got back to my place near the door when David Gower started to announce the painting which was the man himself’s personal choice. Honestly the last thing I expected to hear was my name called out again. But there it was “David Shepherd’s choice goes to Stella Mays!!!

It is very humbling to be noticed in a room filled with so much fantastic artwork, and I have felt quite emotional on the days following the exhibition. Such a huge vote of confidence is something I will treasure. My painting is an integral part of who I am, but with two small children it does often take a back seat at the moment. Having my painting put in the spotlight was really very wonderful. None of this would happen without the fantastic support of all at the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, read more about their work here

“Highlife” sold on the preview night, however limited edition prints are available, click here for details
